About Me

Fashion, for me, has always been more than clothing; it is language, legacy, and intention. I am Kechena Heard, founder and creative director of Kechena Designs, a bespoke fashion house dedicated to timeless craftsmanship and purposeful design. Every garment I create is rooted in storytelling, honoring the woman who wears it while reflecting the depth of her journey.

My foundation in fashion was shaped through formal training at Missouri State University. I learned to balance structure with vulnerability, precision with soul. That duality remains at the heart of my work today. Grounded in my Haitian heritage and committed to community impact, I approach design with reverence for culture, craftsmanship, and the stories we carry. Whether through bespoke gowns, mentorship, or creative collaboration, my work is guided by intention and responsibility.

  • Bachelors degree in Fashion Design/Textile Science

  • Studied abroad in London England for Fashion Design

  • Former Fashion & Costume Design teacher at Paseo Academy of Fine & Performing Arts 

  • Fashion Design entrepreneur since 2015
